Great Storm today! Eventually!!

We had a fantastic storm this afternoon. I havent seen clouds like this in a long time. As i ran up to get the truck to drive it off the beach i stopped for a few and shot these pictures. It was windy, lightning , raining but worth it. The two mile bike ride home however was an entirely different story.

Since i cant surf yet!!

None of these Pictures were taken by me and for once i get to be in them.
Well since i cant surf yet due to my shoulder recovery i found other ways to ride waves. I paid the price for the bravado in the kayak here. But thanks to Brian Ainley for catching it before i got tagged. made it all worth while.
This is one of me riding my bodyboard. I got tired of watching so i figured until my shoulder is ready i would at least ride some waves. So for now i am stuck riding the sponge. Photo courtesy of Brent Ainley
Another nice shot by Brent. This is Richard catching a nice little one late in the afternoon.
And Richard and Deb got in on the action together. I wish i could tell you that this turned out well but i dont want to lie. They both got pretty flogged on this wave. Riding tandem on your stomach is not easy. Trying to drop in late like this is even harder. Thanks again Brent for capturing it.

Almost halfway through July!

Although Andy is 170lbs,he claims,( i say 150) he rides the rescue boards like few others i have ever seen. The best part about it is that he doesnt even surf other then this during the summer. Whatever he is doing it is working in the fun little swell we got to play with.
This Picture is my favorite so far this summer. The rough and tumble biker guy with his cute little daughter. The two were walking in the water holding hands and it was adorable. Every time she would bend down to pick something up she would run right back to daddy and grab his hand. Just shows you cant judge people based on appearance.
Its not all fun and games. Here is sean(aka Chocolate Muffin) pulling in a hapless young boogie boarder. You will note the severity of the situation by the fact that Sean still has his sunglasses on.
We finally got waves!!!! At least Dom got to play for a little bit!

Some Fun Summer Sights

This is Logan and her friend Jessica enjoying the messiest ice cream bomb pop i have ever seen. It was Logan's birthday so she got to be a mess!
This is a shot of my surgeon Joe Tauro enjoying my insurance money. Joe is a great guy and is very into outdoor sports of all kinds. He is a snowboarder, windsurfer, kiteboarder etc. Glad to see that when he isnt working hard he gets to play hard. This was thirty seconds before he almost cracked his rib on his kite bar!
Here is a shot of Ray and Deb coming in for a nice morning row. Aside from not being able to surf yet not really being able to row is one thing i am really missing this summer. Notice how the gentlemanly Ray is poised to bail out as the wave approaches. Kudos Ray! Kudos!

Things that fly! (and swim)

This Helicopter flew by and just had everyone stunned. It was about 100 feet up and banked in right over us. It was loud it was fast but it was awesome. Enjoy both shots of it.

Forgive the clarity of the picture but this bird was working hard in front of our stand and i did my best to capture his dive. I saw this bird do something i never saw before. It caught a fish and willfully came to the beach and gave its fish to another bird.
Porpoises are back!

Happy July!!!

This one of the flags just symbolizes how quick a summer day goes from hot and sunny to cold cloudy and windy. I really feel this picture captured that.
I thought i would change it up and just narrate the pictures for a while.
We have seen storms almost every day and yet they miss us by just a hair. This storm built directly behind us yet missed us to the north.
This group of people just intrigued me. The two older men just met each other while they were watching their boys surf. Neither boy was any good but the fathers were there watching their kids in the water as all parents should do. It was funny though. If you look at the two fathers neither one could be any farther from a surfer himself. The one in front is your typical north jersey or new york dad and the one behind, in the hidden cut-offs, is clearly a military man. Regardless they are both there supporting their boys which is nice to see.

I just liked the way this one came out. With the water exploding over the tidal sea wall. Enjoy i did!

Just Because!

Insert jokes here but i love this picture. It is a moment that i caught that if i had asked them to pose would never have happened. A father and son playing on the beach. If i were to play this game with my dad now i would squish him but there was a time when i to used to wrestle like this with my father. I guess this just brought me back and in a time where so few families spend quality time together i just wanted to share this picture.
